Short Break in Venice

JACKET NOTES:  An antiques store in Venice is vandalized, and the first cop to get there is Chief Inspector Franco Corti of the London Art and Antiques Squad, on a vacation which blossoms into a second honeymoon.
The thread of consequence shuttles between Venice, haunted b its past, and gritty multiracial London. It takes in the Surrey gin-and-Jaguar belt, a dreamy West Country manor, the "wild sea moor" of the Venetian lagoon. Its tapestry is of hijack, terrorism, death, and final deliverance.
Old enemies crawl from Latin-American hideouts to ride again. Corti gets wet and hates open boats. The "tight wild hunch" of Hell's Angels on the motorway are a clue. And as for the Israeli secret service...
