The Franco Corti Mystery Series

Tondo for Short

JACKET NOTES:  When one of Michelangelo's treasures disappears from a London museum, Scotland Yard has just the man for the case: Detective-Inspector Franco Corti, a proud (if less than noble) Italian whose speciality (and passion) is Renaissance art.
His policeman's instinct tells Corti the theft is an inside jot). But before he can prove it, kidnapping, blackmail, and murder, enter the picture and Corti is off on a junket to Florence, where he soon uncovers machinations that would do Machiavelli proud.
Then. on an afternoon of sight-seeing, Franco Corti happens into a beautifully restored palazzo and, quite by accident, sees where Michelangelo's masterpiece is meant to be. And he begins to perceive just how Florentine treachery and corruption have conspired to place it there ....
